Install Quality Control

Install audits, offline-unit recovery, camera aim checks, and re-work, whether we did the original install or someone else did, with a report for every vehicle.

Every unit should report

Installs only pay off when they work

You’re paying for every device every month. If some are offline, aimed wrong, or wired in a way that will fail later, you’re paying for data you aren’t getting. We find those units, fix what we can on the spot, and tell you exactly what’s left.

  • Audits of installs by any installer
  • Offline and intermittent units tracked down
  • Camera mounting and aim checked and corrected
  • Wiring brought up to the maker’s standard
  • Photos and a written report for every unit

What a QC visit covers

1
Check the device, harness, and power connections
2
Confirm mounting and camera aim
3
Verify GPS lock, cell signal, and platform reporting
4
Fix what we find and test again
5
Photos and a written report for every unit

What usually goes wrong

Most offline units aren’t broken. They’re usually one of these.

Power on the wrong circuit

A constant-power lead tied to a switched circuit shuts the device off whenever the key is off.

Blown fuses and bad grounds

A loose ground or blown fuse cuts power, sometimes only now and then.

Loose connectors

Plug-in devices and diagnostic cables that vibrate or get kicked loose.

Poor placement

Antennas under metal and cameras pointed at the hood or the sky.

Damaged wiring

Chafed harnesses and rough splices from rushed installs.

Failed hardware

When a unit is truly dead, we document it so your provider can replace it.

How QC works

List

You send the units that are offline or suspect, or the group you want audited.

Inspect

We check power, connections, placement, aim, and reporting on each one.

Fix

We correct wiring, mounting, and aim, then test again.

Report

Each unit is marked fixed, still open, or needs new hardware, with photos.

Brand-neutral

Any installer, any platform

We audit installs on platforms such as Samsara, Motive, Geotab, Verizon Connect, Trackunit, Teletrac Navman, Netradyne, Zonar, Omnitracs, SmartDrive, CalAmp, Xirgo, PassTime GPS, Quartix, Adveez, and CameraMatics, no matter who did the original work.

What we need from you

  • A list of units to check, exported from your platform
  • Vehicles available at the yard
  • Spare hardware on hand, if units need replacing
  • A contact at your provider for swaps

Quality control questions

Can you check work another installer did?

Yes. Many QC jobs are audits of installs done by someone else. We report what we find plainly.

We have units that keep going offline. Can you help?

Yes. Send us the list from your platform. We check power, fuses, grounds, connectors, placement, and signal, fix what we can, and flag hardware that needs to be replaced.

Can you fix camera angles?

Yes. We check mounting and aim against the maker’s guide and correct cameras that are tilted, off-center, or blocked.

What’s in the QC report?

Each unit’s ID and serial number, what we found, what we fixed, photos, and anything still open.

Should we do QC during a rollout or after?

Both work. Checking a sample early in a rollout catches problems before they repeat across the fleet. On our managed projects, QC is part of the plan.
